Comment Time ~ Living Like Jesus ~ Week 1

First of all, forgive me for being behind...seems like I'm always behind!

This first week was great, I used the S.O.A.P. method, if you use something else, that's fine, share your methods, we can all learn from each other.

As I was looking over what I had written each day a common theme jumped out at me.  Fearing the Lord and His great mercy.  A couple of examples...Luke 1:50 "And His mercy is for those who fear Him from generation to generation." Luke 1:74 "that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies might serve Him without fear".  And so much more!  Did you see a common theme in Luke 1?

This week I was encouraged and challenged by God's Word.  I know that I can have certainty in my Lord that His Word is absolute truth, I realize that I make things too difficult when I must simply trust Him and His will.  He knows what's best and He is worthy of my trust.  I need to humble myself before the Lord in order to be used by Him, if we fear Him, He will give us mercy.  When I mess up, God offers His grace freely to me.  As a believer, I should will be a light in the darkness, sharing the gospel, telling others how they can receive forgiveness, how God wants to show them mercy.  ...that we might serve Him without fear!

What marvelous things did God reveal to you this past week?

If you are participating in this study I want to know.
Leave a comment please :)

The Few, the Proud, the Marines

My brilliant son, Christian, dropped this bombshell on us right before Thanksgiving.  He's joining the Marines.  Here's what followed...
We cried,
we made jokes,
we cried some more,
we were proud,
we talked to people from other branches of service,
we cried a lot more,
I talked to my uncle who was a Marine for 30 years,
we sucked it up,
we're really proud,
it's gonna be fine...
God is in control.

We had our son's future all planned out, ya know.  How dare he change things up on us.  Right?  Don't we have some kind of say?  Nope, not really.  Oh, we can say all kinds of things, give advice, but ultimately it's up to him.  We really are proud of him, this is a major decision, college will be paid for, he is amazingly smart and can do almost anything he wants to do in the service, and it will be a great character builder.  He's supposed to leave for basic training in August, that's when it's gonna get tough, for him and for us.  But I'm trusting God, He promises to never leave or forsake us, He is in control, what more can I ask for?

This is an online study, we will do our reading on our own and then comment on this blog.  We are a week behind the "Good Morning Girls" blog but that's okay, we will officially start on January 21st!  The Good Morning Girls post a video each week, I will post a link each week for that as well or direct you to it.  This should be fun!  Download your free ebook and reading plan below.
Let's get started!

Burn, Baby, Burn

My baby got burned!  Christian, like many teenagers, works at a restaurant.  It's sort of fast food like but more like an ice cream parlor with lots of fried menu items.  He was closing with another employee and while pouring the grease out slipped and dropped the grease which splashed up on his arm and face.  As you can see, the arm took the brunt of it.  His face is completely fine and within two weeks his arm looks amazingly better.  He should have no lasting scarring, despite its appearance it was only a 2nd degree burn.  This happened 3 days before Christmas, always exciting around here, but we are so thankful God took such good care of him.

I don't know why, but when I started writing this I thought of this goofy youtube video....just watch for the part when he says "fire".
Really, that's the only reason I thought of this....because of the way he says "fire"...I know...sorry.

Christmas Card 2012

Our 2012 Christmas Card!
Why 5 babies?  Who knows, why do we do any of the things we do?  This year's card was all James' idea, we had several mommas-to-be due all around the same time and he wanted all of them to be in our Christmas card.  At first he wanted to hold all of them himself but I really don't think the parents would have liked that too much.  We asked each baby's mommy or daddy if their child could be in our card, they all said yes even though some were really confused.  Most of them were even present for this picture, only one ran off without retrieving their baby.
Next year: Wait...

The Greatest Parents in the World

Our boys' birthday bashes didn't work out as planned, we had an opportunity to send them to a NFL game in Kansas City with our Associate Pastor and his wife, we ordered tickets online, presented them the morning of Christian's 18th birthday (to both boys)....and this makes us the greatest parents in the world.  They were over the moon!  Super excited!  Cameron roots for the Kansas City Chiefs, Christian betrayed the family and started rooting for the Denver Broncos several years ago, we'll leave it at that.  The picture above shows them on game day, Christian sporting his John Elway throwback jersey and Cameron wearing his Matt Cassel jersey....eh hem, both #7 which is really cute.  They love it when I call things they wear "cute".  They had a fabulous time at the game, so glad we were able to send them.  Oh, and the Broncos won...
