BBQ Pulled Pork

My family knows that once in a while I want to experiment with a "new" meal.  I am an o..k.. cook, I make the usual normal things like spaghetti, tacos, etc and a few things my family loves like enchiladas, pork chops, roast....and well, you know what I mean ;)

But then I want to "try" something and it usually ends up a disaster or very odd.  I may have blogged about it before but a couple years ago I tried to make sweet and sour chicken.  Everything was going fine and then I did something out of order and we ended up having sweet and sweet chicken.  My family ate it anyway but it wasn't what it was supposed to be.  The one they all think of is the quiche I tried to make them eat...way too much spinach, they hated it.  I didn't even like it that much and that's saying something.

I finally have a victory to share!  Last week I was looking for a pulled pork recipe that I could make in the crock pot.  I found this one online, tried it almost exactly like the recipe and my family raved about it.  It was really delicious, better than restaurant quality.  Here's the receipe below.

Ingredients:
-(2 pound) pork tenderloin

Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker; pour the root beer over the meat. Cover and cook on low until well cooked and the pork shreds easily, 6 to 7 hours. Note: the actual length of time may vary according to individual slow cooker. Drain well. Stir in barbecue sauce. Serve over hamburger buns.

My variations were:  I cooked it for about 8 hours, poured Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory and Brown Sugar BBQ sauce over it and then cooked it for another hour.  And I didn't toast my buns ;)

Wish I had taken a picture, I also made homemade cole slaw to go with it.  My mother-in-law's recipe.  And yes, it was fine.

I just found this pic on the internet....hmmmm, very interesting.
